I got 55 on Skyline Drive in VA back in June. Normal arround town and some highway about 45. I did find that if I use gas with alcohol milage suffers about 5 mpg.
07 RG with bags and tour pak, 103 etc properly tuned, last trip from Breckenridge CO to Sedona Az, through Durango, (640 miles) riding 2 lanes at 65-70 or so where possible, and got a consistent 54 mpg.
The best I have ever got was 56 but my average speed was 45 mph in the mountains. On the interstate was 47.8 at 75 mph 2 up 6th gear. My average is 47-48 mpg at 55-60, 2 lane roads in 5th gear. 45-46 mpg interstate 60-65 5th gear. 44mpg at 70 mpg 6th gear.
Here in Alabama there are no flat roads, lots of hills so 6th gear hurts the mpg, thats why I ride almost always ride on back roads-2 lane.
After 30,000 miles I just ride and put in fuel.

My 08 Sg with RH True Duals, and PCIII is getting about 35 mpg after a dyno tune. I had the dyno man lean it and now I'm getting about 40mpg @ 2 up cruisin about 2750-3100 rpms.
On a recent trip my avg was about 45 mpg. I live in Fl and it seemed the farther north I got (Central Indiana) the worse my mileage became. In Wisconsin it was the worst. Some areas of the country use different grades of fuel than others. I also suspect the "corn states" may have access to the alcohol. The farther south I went the better the fuel mileage. To my surprise some of the better mileage was in the mountains. We were 2 up with saddle bags and trunk full. I seldom rode under 70 mph and used the cruise a lot. The overall trip length was just under 2800 mi. Can't wait to do it again!

you got worse milage cause you were going "up" the further north you went...got better cause when you was going back to FL you was going "down". hence the better milage...haha
Best I've ever attained was 42 mpg on my 08 EGS with 3100 miles on it. That was on a total highway run with the cruise set at just under 70 mph for about 120 miles. I usually check my mileage on every tank and for my driving I'll average 39-41 mpg. Most of my riding is county roads where you run a couple miles and then a stop sign. And I'm conservative on the take offs. On this kind of riding I get right around 40. I was surprised and a little disappointed on the all interstate run at getting only 42 mpg. I would have thought 45. Bike is all stock except for Rush slip ons with a 1.75 inch baffle.
How many of you have checked the accuracy of your odometer? Not only are Harley speedometers reading fast, so are the odometers, showing more miles than you are really putting on, giving you worse miliege than you think.
