My biggest problem will be matching the paint. The dumbasses at HD wont do ANYTHING to help me out. Wont sell the paint, give me the codes, or paint it for me. All I got was that its PPG paint. I dont want to paint the whole bike though. I called Airea 5150 and talked to the owner Scott (very nice guy by the way) and he says he might be able to do something. Guess we'll see.
Man go for it you got a nice sled. Colorrite makes HD paint that matches perfectly and it's a lot cheaper that PPG/HD stuff. I just installed a detachable fairing on my Fatty and I am loving it. http://www.colorrite.com/
I'll bet the guy that does all of my painting (Darin at Killer Kreations in LuVerne, Ia. 515-341-4141) could match it. I had a HD radical paint set on my 04 Road King and he matched a fairing and tour pak to it and nobody could tell that they werent part of the paint set. Also, I sent you a PM about the fairing, Travis.
Problem is mine aint one of the standard colors. Its one of the custom jobs that hd hires out. No record of anything according to them.
I'm not sure what part of the world you're in but there are a number of companies that will spec your paint and mix up a matching color. I'm in the Kansas City area and I've used Auto Color & Equipment over in Independence for over 15 years. When I was in Dallas there were a couple of shops that could do the same.
I had a local paint supply shop use a scanner to match it. While it came out very close, it aint dead on. In the sunlight, its appears perfect. On a cloudy day or at nite though, its a whole nother story. I am going to try a couple other places though. I aint givin up yet.
