On a trip I pulled into a vista, had forks turned slightly to the right, roadway was sloped downhill from my left to right. I screwed up and grabbed the front brake. The bike started over. Because of the sloped road by the time my foot was planted the bike was so far over I couldn't hold it. It went over, rolled past the engine and saddlebag guards. There was some loose small rocks and the front and lower fairings received gouges. The right saddlebag was scratched. Is there anyway that these can be repaired without taking it to the dealership? Is there any filler that is appropriate to repair gouges in the fairings?
If the gouges aren't too deep, some good sanding primer or glazing puddy should work. Any auto parts store should be able to set you up with what you need.
Don't know who you have for insurance - but there aren't a bunches shops that can do plastic wielding. I would bet that the damage to you putt will exceed your deductible. Body Hard Parts aren't cheap...
Does this stufff really work? I have a small gouge on one of my saddlebags. I think some one opened a car door on it at a resturant. The plastic is displaced just a little, but if this stuff would blend the paint I don't think it would be noticeable. I'm scared to try it. Have you used it? I thought I could live with it, but it bothers me every time I see it. May have to see if my insurance will pay.
Why, sure it works. Haven't you seen Billy Mays use it on TV? Just kidding. I haven't tried it, but I doubt it will do what they show on TV. Try it on an old car first. It's just $19.95 plus S&H.

Quicxx scratch remover does what it says it will do. Tried it after a consumer reports test verified that it was the best out of 7 brands of scratch remover and the only one to remove scratches that you could feel and not just swirls. You can even buy it at wal-mart for about $25.00
