Just curious if anyone else is having this problem or if IQ's here in Washington state have fallen off worse than the rest of the country.
Yesterday my buddy Shane and I decide to ride on a road that I had explored a few weekends ago, I explained that the road is fairly technical with lot's of 90 degree sweepers and hairpins. My buddy is all for it so we head out. The road itself is probably a good 8 to 10 miles in length, at about a mile in here comes five sport bikes at well over 100 mph right through us, around us and all with out warning. Now understand this road has a speed limit of 35 mph and is full of houses with families and small children, I'm all for having fun but these guys came close to hitting me! Within inches at a high rate of speed with no regard for others. I've been riding bikes since I was 5 and have had my share of "crotch rockets" over the years, but I never endangered others lives while riding. To make a long story short we reach the end of the road and there must be at least thirty kids with sport bikes parked. As we ride by they give us the finger and what not... Now at this point I'm pretty hot under the collar and would love to run home and get a regulator and come back and show these pieces of shizz what respect is.
I'm going to stop there as I did not go home, we went on and enjoyed the rest of our ride but I could not put this out of my mind. My friend Shane also informed me that the ride I missed out on the weekend before they had the same problem with sport bikes riding through them at over 100 mph on their way to Winthrop in eastern Washington. Has this ever happened to any of you? What did you do? Should I have called the police? Should I chalk it up to kids just out having fun? Tell me your story.
Yes I have come across situations like that before. It is very annoying to say the least. I hate when they kind of sneak up on you from behind then pull out and pass you like your standing still and they are just inches off your shoulder. It's kind of shocking and can rattle your nerves sometime.
I travel to Winthrop often from the west and you get passed by these sport bike guys all the time even when your going a little over the speed limit and even in areas where one should never pass. I don't know what they are thinking sometimes.
I hate to sound like a stool pigeon, but I'd alert the cops to this idiocy and maybe the cops will make their presence known on that stretch of the road. A nice hefty fine and jacked up insurance rates might slow them down for awhile. It's too bad a motorcycle license doesn't require a intelligence test along with the normal test. Alot of those bufoons wouldn't have one then....
I guess it will take them getting into an accident and hopefully only hurting themselves to realize that what they are doing is stupid. I'm 40 now and have lost the urge to drag my knees around corners a long time ago. When I was into that my buddies and I went way far away from people, traffic and during hours of heavy traffic for sure. I know if I lived on that road that I would put a stop to that crap on my own terms and I don't think they would enjoy riding that road anymore. I have been thinking about putting a large pipe or other deterrent on the bike for occasions when fools decide to buzz me like that. I don't want to hurt anyone, but if they see an old guy waving a large blunt object around they might think twice before trying to pass real close again.
Well I've wasted enough energy this morning on those punks and I am off to enjoy one more sunny day here in Washington and go do some riding.

Not trying to be a "tough guy", just saying if a sport bike *** took my life into his own hands by stunt riding near me like that I would handle it my own way and he would think twice before doing again.
Sounds like you live on the wet side of the state. When I am over there I seem to see more of what you describe. Call the cops. They love teaching lessons to these kind of bikers. Motorcycle cops would get the most enjoyment out of it.
These kind of riders spoil it for the rest of us but do supply society with fresh organ donations.
Well, I agree on kickin' some stupid asses, but then everyting is your fault and you get burned for it. Ya know, every dude I know or knew(killed on sportbikes=2) and one injured on the dragon's tail on a sportbike thought they knew everything. Not one dude on a Harley(six plus bikes at work) were ever in a wreck or killed. Does that tell you anything?

Thinking the same thing, but like I said there was a whole bunch of them at the bottom and without an equalizer we would have had our asses presented to us. I think I might take a run through there today and if it is the same I'll give WSP a call and let them know exactly where they are parked and what I personally witnessed. Not that it will do much as the officer needs to witness it happening, but I might suggest a nice place to park to the officer so he/she can see it all. I'm all for having fun and I think we as riders need to stick together, but this element of the bike culture is giving us all a bad image. It is no doubt because of these people that we have helmet laws in this state and what not.
