Absolutely!!! I just took the Ride Like A Pro course in NC. It was a half day class with five of us. By the afternoon, everyone could do the course. I had bought the DVD three weeks earlier and had been practicing and now it's second nature to me. I can even run the course with my wife on the back. We both weigh in around 200 each. The bike behaves the same with or without my wife on it. It's all in the clutch and rear brake. The crash bars on my Ultra do a great job and tipping the bike doesn't hurt it. I even tipped it on purpose to demonstrate the correct way to pick it back up. Balance isn't really an issue, it's all in the clutch and rear brake. I scrape the floorboards without counterbalancing. It has made my riding the big bikes very enjoyable as I am not intimidated in parking lots at all. By the way, I've only been riding since this May.

I would love to learn this stuff! Moved up from a softail to an ultra in February. Very intimidating. I have managed but I would like it to become second nature. Any courses like that around the Delaware area taught by Police? Perhaps on rental bikes! Ride Safe!

It is not about your weight or how you shift it. Yes that does give you a slight advantage but it is all about letting the bike work for you. Like has been previously stated it is about throttle brake and clutch control. I do get paid to ride and enjoy riding when not at work. I ride exactly the same way at work, on my personal bike, or in a rodeo. I am 605 and 270 and i have a partner that is 510 and 150 soaking wet. we can both toss the bike around like it is nobodys business.
