Don't ride your wife until you are comfortable with all handling, stopping, etc. It is a heavy bike, but it does maneuver very well after you get used to it. I know, I had the same feelings. The best thing I did was get the Ride like a Pro DVD. it will teach you how to handle the bike really well if you practice a few hours. It's well worth the $20.
Be safe.
I find the HD touring bikes amazingly nimble, at first a little intimidating but after a 1000 miles I went and hung out with the HOG skills team, they usually practice twice a month. This was very good training for low speed handling, if a 105 lb wonan can U turn a RKC inside 2 parking spaces from a stop you should be okay size wise. Look into the HOG skills team, thats one of the few things I appreciate them for and stay in it. getting a new UC in a few weeks, will put 1000 miles on it then do the experienced riders course. Think it will be money well spent.
