Well, I agree on the looks on the SG and RK without it on. I'm soon to have 09 RKC, so I knew I needed a backrest for the wife, just thought the basic wouldn't be hard to remove if need be. It's like $60 difference from what I saw.

I love the quick detach... I like it off too! And that's a snap.

I have the quick detach passenger backrest on my Road King. The idea was to take it off anytime the wife isn't with me. But then I added the luggage rack to the backrest and I find that I really like having that rack on the bike at all times. That way I can tie down crap to it when needed (jacket, helmet, laptop, etc...) So yeah, now the backrest/luggage rack stays on there 99% of the time.

I still think it looks better without it, but it's darn nice to have that luggage rack on there when needed.

I am with SgtThump. I like the looks with it on anyway but it is handy for unexpected "stuff". I worry more with people taking other things like rain jacket from bags than detaching luggage rack or backrest.

Have fun with the new ride.

Yea, I'm saying now that all I'm gonna put on is a backrest for the wife, and then it goes south from there. Next a this and that, etc. I see it coming already!

Getting the quick detach for the SG. I think it looks better without it. But for the misses it's a must. Gonna do a detach tour pak also for long trips
