Is the quick detach backrest worth the extra cabbage, or go with basic. I'd think a hood could swipe it that much faster anyway.

I love mine. I only put it on on long trips. when I get there it goes in the saddle bag locked up till I make the trip back. Don't need it on trips of less thes 100 mi.

Really depends on if you're gonna take it off to put on other accessories. If not then save the $$ and go basic.

I have the adjustable backrest and really like how it gives great support. I ride with it all of the time.

The backrest is a must for the long haul. I suggest it. The BR ain't no use to anyone unless they have the mounting kit. What are those chances? Besides, dicks/crooks will take whatever off your bike. My $.02

I have the adjustable use it all the time never take it off, actually never thought of anyone taking it. Been to Hog Ralleys, Americade and 1000's of restaurants and car shows, never had a issue.

I would say, YES, it's worth it.!. I guess it also depends on the type of cycle you have?. I have a Street Glide and think it looks WAY better with the backrest off. I only put it on if my wife or daughter are going for a ride. When they get off so does the backrest. A good friend of mine has a Heritage Softtail Classic and I think on his bike the backrest looks pretty nice on all the time. I guess it comes down to what you think looks best since they both do the same job.
