My bike is in the shop as I type.Brought it in for a leaking shift shaft seal and excessive valve train noise. The out of pocket cost just for the seal would have around $400.Glad I bought the warranty.

Consumer Reports says NOT to buy extended warranties. I cashed mine in. Still waiting for the refund. Been 2 months now.

I'm not sure what you mean, it is still a four year warranty. A few other benefits to getting it when you buy the bike is you get a loaner bike when you bring is in the shop and I believe everything including the tires is covered through the life of the warranty. You don't get those with the standard factory warranty. At least that is how it was explained it to me.

Interestingly one of the stores in Oklahoma City sales their own extended warranty. Basically the same thing as Harleys, but they pocket all the money. If you need work on the bike while out of town, they ask that you bring in the receipt and they pay you back in cash. Or so they say.

What he means is you get a 2 year warranty with the bike. If you buy the 4 yr plan, it really only gives you 2 years more than you already have. The original HD warranty is in effect the first 2 years regardless, so you really are only getting 2 years of extra coverage. You get a total of 4 years, but you already had 2. By the way, which dealer are you referring to in OKC? Harley World or Ft Thunder?

OK I see. All the dealers I've talked with advertise it as an additional two or three years, not a total of four, so I now I understand what your are saying.

And I say two or three because I've heard both.

I was referring to Ft. Thunder.

I say buy all your toys on credit. It's the american way. Besides, if everyone waited until they could pay cash, then no one would buy anything. Toys or not, almost everyone has to buy things on credit. This is what keep the economy going. LOL

Anybody know if there are ways other than the dealer to buy an extended warranty?
How about for just one more year?

Ha Ha Ha,You got that right!! It doesn't take long to burn up a couple of grand. you can do that on a short trip (vacation). I vote for extended warranty and cut corners somewhere else. You know, eat at home for a while.
