I have an 08 RG and need new bars before adding grips. I just added a Corbin Young Guns seat that pushed me back some which I really needed for more legroom and now I need to work on the bars. I do not want to change any cables or wires. I would like to have another inch pullback and 2 inches up or the max with out replaceing any of the wiring or cables.
Even with Harly there are a lot of choices and they have a comparrison chart but do not tell you which model is stock to compair.
I know it may make it even harder to find but I am thinking about going with black bars and changing the levers and mirros to black and adding black grips. I know it may be much harder to find black bars but what the heck...I like different. What do you guys think about all black controls.
Thanks for the help and hopfully I can find some bars soon with your help.
I did the Wide Glide bars, about $50 from my dealer and had the powder coated black for another $25. No change for the wires of brake lines. Just swapped them out
Yeah, it moved them back about 2 inches, or up 2 inches depending on how you rotate them. They are like mini-apes that I layed back towards me for better reach.
All of your cables and wiring where good? If so do you know if the wiring for the TBW will be long enough as well. Also I guess I would have to order 08 Wide Glide bars so it will have the notches cut into it for the TBW as well.
Anyone happen to know the HD Part# for 08 Wide Glide Bars?
Yeah, the X2's were great and comfy. If they had them in heated form, they'd be on my bike now
But, I'm getting whimpy in my old age and the hands are the first thing to get cold, so I tried heated grips last fall. Wow, what a difference. So I sold the x2's to a fellow board member last winter
i also did stock hd bars for same reason went with softtail pullbacks which helped a ton bit have 31+ inseam and biggest help was actually the extended floorboards on my 05 rkc plus the ext brake lever my theory was get the lower body comfortable then work on the bars but these changes worked for me good luck jd
