I can't say enough good things about the mount from forum member Gilbos. I had it powdercoated and it looks and works great. Here is a pic.
I'm on the fence right now on whether to purchase a factory radio or go aftermarket on my '09 standard. Can you tell me how the iPod works via the factory radio? I would assume that since the iPod isn't hard wired to the radio, it can't be controlled by the bar controls or the radio correct? What about as far as charging, do you have to charge via the cigarette lighter? What about the sound?
Does he make mounts for Garmin GPS's by chance? I like your iPod mount. Looks most OEM!
He does.
I have one of his early mounts that he made me for a RoadyXT. In June of 07, I replaced it with a Zumo 550. I bought a Ram "ball mount" with the oval base and bolted it to the same "BobbyMount" I had been using for the Roady.

On the stock radio, the IPOD would plug into the AUX input on the front of the radio via a patch cable. You would not be able to control the IPOD using your handlebar controls or the radio. On an aftermarket radio (ie; Sony), provided it had a direct IPOD hookup, there would be a cable coming out of the back of the radio. That would plug directly into your IPOD wherever you mounted it and you could then use your handlebar controls for your IPOD. With the HD radio, charging would have to be done off the bike via your computer using the apple cable. After market radio would charge the IPOD while using it. IMO, you should get an aftermarket radio. Much cheaper than HD, offers better features and is much more reliable....
