Only one question comes to mind......WHY? Isn't there enough going on while riding as it is without adding additional elements to the whole equation? I love my dog, but I prefer not to have him as a riding companion.

To each his own....I suppose.

For me it is a win win situation... I get to ride my bike and Rufus gets to go for a swim... Without the trailer... I have to drive my truck for Rufus to get his swim... Then there is that chick magnet thing he does...

I also saw on tv once some old man had a dog that would ride on the passenger seat and stay there no problems. I'd be worried about losing the dog though...too many quick turns, stops, etc on a motorcycle that dog's can't prepare for like we can.

Hey OD... did I meet you in Canyon de Chelley?... We are in Utah now... on our way to Texas! Big Bend... will be there all winter, come by... no fences and no gates!

Spirit and I have been on the road about 2 years now, he just loves riding! Of course it is a compromise no being able to hike the National Parks or run into Walmart wihout him! But... I would not trade our situation for any other Lifestyle. It is for both of us our therapy through Life.

Please get some Goggles for your riding dogs... they can get and will get bugs just as we do. Helmet? He only wears it on long distances. A "cool jacket" like mine for hot weather? for sure... (the kind you soak with water + shade / he has a cover also with a soft water bowl always in front of him)

Anyhow, just thought I would stop by and say HI!... Great Forum by the way.

We also go to Schools and entertain the kids!!! Our Blog "The Oasis of my Soul" is a "G" rated Life Story of ours read by teachers in School. That in itself is worth it all as I have lost my own child recently, and being on the road is the only way I can cope with it all. Spirit was an abused Pit I rescued 3 years ago... we support each other well!

You all be well... stay in touch.
