Default 2004 Road King Classic

Hey, Need your input. Am looking at a 2004 RKC vivid black with quite a few extra's like pipes, chrome stuff, etc. Has about 3500 miles and warranty until May 09. Was asking $14,900 and I offered $13,500 and he countered with $14,000. Bike is in great condition. Any input if the price is in line? Also am comparing it to a Heritage Softail Classic 2007 and the guy wants $15,500 with 1700 miles. Which is the better bike?

Thanks!

I say buy a new '08. Dealer's are offering good discounts. New bikes have 2-year warranty, you can get ABS, have a bigger gas tank, plus you put all the miles on it. If you buy the '04, you're saving a few grand, but you're riding a six year old bike for almost the price on a new one.

But, if it's bewtween those two bikes, the better bike is the one you like.

Very Good Financial advice wildcat, the bit I would add is the one that you not only like but also fits you comfort wise the best as well.
And of course if it is Black it will be the fastest one there is as well
Enjoy the Long Weekend Everyone both North and South.

Go for the 09 road king you will love it. I have a 04 and 35,000 is a lot of miles.

First, decide whether you want a RK or softail. They're very different bikes if you ride much.

Also, the "warranty until May '09" is an extended service plan, not a warranty. It can be voided by engine work, etc.

As for the price on the RKC with 3500 miles, it sounds reasonable. But a lot of owners leave their bikes essentially stock, so whatever add-ons the bike has may have little financial value to you, or may be things you would not want.

If you want an RKC, and intend to keep it stock, price a leftover '08 and compare. And take a look at the '09's.
