I don't really think you have to go to all this trouble to get some thump out of your system.
At Sturgis this year, there was a vendor there with some really dressed up bikes. (They kinda had an LA street gang theme going) What they did was drill some holes to make a "grill" in the lower part of the saddle bag facing the tire. They then installed 6x9 speakers in the bag. This set up produced a tremendous amount of bass and was powered from a pretty simple amp.

I have a Rockford Fosgate 400 watt amp. I replaced the 2 speakers in the fairings to kickers and I added 2 6x9 5 way speakers in the bags facing inward toward the wheels. The deck has been replaced by a alpine dvd unit. (Yeah I know, I went a lil overboard.)Riding around town under 50 mph, I can hear all my speakers. Parked at a meet playin my music, you can hear the bass. Freeway wise, I cant hear my 6x9's in the bag for nothing. The wind factor as well as my pipes is the reason. I do know guys with Road Kings that have 2 pairs of 6x9's in the bags and they swear they can hear the music while on the freeway. But Im not sure.

yes i have a 10" enclosure that fit in the bag and it sounded amazing, actually could hear the difference whther riding or not, but obv. it was most notable with the bike sitting, the entire setup was very well rounded and crystal clear...
i took the sub out recently and will be getting rid of it, as i am making a new enclosure for a 12" thin sub to go in my tourpack... i have true extended bags and i wanted to clear up some space (thus moving the sub), i made the box to be removeable you can check out my setup (in progres) by clicking on my thread, feel free to ask any questions...

i do have the 103 upgrade and bassani pipes and my setup sounds amazing... am doing some more mods to my motor, but i cannot be any happier (actually am always changing things up though)...
if anyone is close to the la area, i can hit you up when i am down there and you can check it out, just let me know... i do have quite a bit on my ride, but everything has a purpose and was added to make it sound the way i like it (even though it is loud, i am into clarity)...
there are many things you can do... options are limitless
ps-look through the entire thread as i have changed things up a bit...
with the sub in the bag, you will obvioiusly lose that bag (if you want it to sound right)...
the 10 did sound better (bass) than the 4 6x9s, but i really like the combo i have now with the 1 6x9 in each bag (it sounds better to me than people that have 2)...
keep in mind you will need an amp to run all of this... i have an alpine pdx5 (and have recently tried the pdx 4.150, which made a difference), but am going to switch to 2 arc 4ch minis
to make sense of the setup you choose, keep this in mind...
a nice basic setup (without getting too crazy is) 1 6x9 in each bag, change out the factory speakers and add the arc 4ch mini amp... you can hide the amp in the fairing, which will make quick connecting the wires for you bag much easier...
if you want a little more, add another 2ch arc and a tourpack with a sub...
i had initial concerns with my charging system, but i changed my battery to an Odyssey and have beat my setup to a pulp, with no distortion or start/charge issues to date...
i have a 2008 streetglide
