Looking to mount a tomtom on my sg. Does the suction cup work? thought about putting on the lower part of the windsheild. I want it so I can take it off for use in the car.
Thanks Retro 08

If you do use the suction cup mount, be sure to tether the Tom Tom to something near in case it does come loose. I have heard about guys using their car mount on their bikes and they all tie it to something.
You may also be able to buy another mount for your bike so all you need to move is the unit.

The suction cup mount is not a reliable way of mounting it, I ordered the RAM mount as they make one for the TOMTOM, I have already installed fairing mount mirrors, I then tapped out the holes where the stock mirrors were and used the screw in RAM mount ball.
The ram mount comes with longer replacement screws and mounts on the clutch side (don't get the U-bolt style). Then get the ram clip for your device model. I got the setup for my TOM TOM ONE and it works great! Just remember to pack a ziplock and a rubber band in case of wet weather.
check out http://www.pro-fit-intl.com. I bought a mount from them with a suction cup with an adhesive pad for my wind deflector on my street glide. It works great and won't come off. The only reason I'm not still using it is I bought a Klock Werks windshield and haven't switched it over. The nice thing is you can mount the GPS front and center. You see the road and the GPS without even moving your eyes. I am currently using a mount that goes in the unused mirror mounting hole, but it isn't front and center. You have to turn your head/eyes to see it. Another thing with it tucked behind the windshield it is protected from all but heavy rain.
I used the UltiMount V2, but ended up switching to a shorter arm. It looks like they have a new one that does that for you, UltiMount S2. I bought mine with the LoBoy with Rigid Mounting Plate and kind of Frankenstiened the two of them together, but I think the new one takes care of that.
