Default wheel bearings

i have a 2008 s/g with 10k miles on it. riding home the other day i heard a noise from the front end. it was a rough grinding noise. i got home and raised the bike up and spun the wheel. rough grinding noise. with 10k miles i thought maybe brake pads. i removed the calipers and inspected the pads , could be changed but not critical. i turned the w/out the calipers and it is definitly the wheel bearings. my bike is under warranty, but it is a everyday rider. stealers closest app. is nearly a month away. the bearings are only twenty dollars apiece. i will also change the pads. the parts man said it is a difficult job to replace the bearings. i really can not see that. has anyone had to do this? i am also going to buy a repair manuel. any tips on how to do this? thanks

ABS bike? Wheel brgs arent hard to replace-your call. With a bike under warranty it shouldnt be up to you,try another dealer that believes in a safe bike.Having a dealer do this at least lets HD know if this is a wider problem.Call C/S and see if they can set you up with an appointment with another dealer or request that your dealer acts on this now.

It's not hard to change out the bearings......of course it is easier with the proper bearing puller, etc. but still can be done without. Only question is does your scoot have ABS? Then you gotta be a little more careful.

I would just take the front wheel in to your dealer. They can change bearings while you wait.
