Ditto. My neighbor uses one from his house to his shed where he stores his bike in the winter. The shed is a good 100' from the house, but the extension cord doesn't seem to mind.

The extension cord sounds like a good idea. I live in Central New York, and we don't get much sunshine for a few months, though the solar charger is worth looking into.

Any recommendations for a good trickle charger? Thanks to all for the advice.

Not sure where you hail from HyFly but, I used to go out and run my bike in the Michigan winter once a month and dream of warmer days till I got a garage with electricity and a battery tender. Sorry, I type slow and you already answered

I always pull battery and store it in a warm place (house or heated shop). I do the same for quads/jeep. Batteries usually last me 5-9 years. I've never used a tender...haven't found the need yet.

Get a battery tender instead of a slow charger, you can just leave it plugged in all winter. HD shops carry them and most indy shops will have them, about $30 and you can plug in a forget about it all winter.

Any http://batterytender.com/ model is what you need.

Just run an extention cord out once a month
or every couple of weeks (when it gets really cold)
and you should be fine.

A "Battery Tender" is the item to use. As already stated, you can leave it plugged in all winter without worry.

I'm glad I can ride all year, but I did consider getting a battery tender until a friend told I wouldn't not need one if I ride every other weeks or so in the winter!!
