I'd like to hear from FLHX (Street Glide) owners regarding these braces. I've pushed my 2008 SG pretty hard and other than wind and the periodic groove in the road never felt anything weird with the stock suspension.

Skydoc listed most if not all the brands who make similar products. If you go to TrueTrack's website they give a good explanation of what these things do.

If you have an older bike, like my 1990 FLHS, there are not many of these things available. I fitted a TrueTrack Tracula kit and it is brilliant! A Harley specialist who rode it recently reckons mine is the best handling dresser he has ever ridden. Not bad for an 18 year old bike!

On rubber-mount Harleys the rear wheel and swingarm are attached to the back of the gearbox. Buells and modern Sportsters have three stabilizer links, one at the cylinder heads, another in front of the engine, the other by the gearbox. The rubber mountings let the engine vibrate, while the links prevent the rear wheel moving sideways in the frame, such as when cornering.

Dressers have only two stabilizer links, one at the heads, the other in front of the engine. Dynas have only one link, at the heads. Softtails don't need stabilizers, as their engine is bolted in as god intended!

So these kits provide dressers with a third stabilizer. The improvements they give are worth the few bucks they cost and greatly improve handling. I have also fitted a kit to my wife's Dyna, with remarkable improvements.

I only have experience of TrueTrack. There is plenty of choice of brand, but what I will say is if you own a dresser, buy and fit one soon and don't look back!

Ditto.

I'm not sure that I have experienced the "wobble". Certainly haven't felt anything dangerous or scary. My everyday riding is a mix of side streets and freeway and lots of turning. I have felt instability at low speeds like turning into a gas station or slowing to enter an alley. If the brace would fix that then I'd sign up immediately.

Not sayin' you gotta feel the wobble to justify a stabilizer. Just sayin' put one on and you will immediately notice an improvement in stability, handling and tracking. Only then will you really know how your bagger can perform!

True!

I have done it to not one bike but two!

Our household now has three bikes, each with three stabilizers. There is no going back!

Then you better sign up.

You all have the "bagger wobble" whether you want to believe it or not. It's inherent in the design. As I've said before "sit on your bike and shake the handlebars back and forth vigorously and you'll feel the lateral movement in the swingarm/motor". My bike no longer does this and I guarantee you'll notice the difference it makes under all speeds and conditions. Do a search and see if you can find any posts where someone has said it doesn't make a major improvement.....naw don't waste your time because you won't find one. I've spent more money than I care to admit to myself on my HD money pit (I quit counting after 6K) but the Bagger Brace was the best $300 I've spent.

I'm with Rick! A stabilizer kit should come before Stage 1 - in fact it should be Stage 0, the starting point for improving your 'ride'.

I recently bought an "05" ultra classic, my first Harley. A few weeks back I was cruising down the highway doing maybe 80 when all of a sudden I felt the whole bike starting to shake (wobble). It scared the crap out of me. I had no idea what had just happened. Thanks for such an informative thread, nice pictures too. I will certainly look into getting the bagger brace for my bike.

I'm enjoying the time I spend on the forum since I have become a member. So much info from a whole bunch of wonderful and knowledgeable people. Great forum!! -Rick
