Just came back from Deer Creek Lodge in Ojai, CA. about 50 bikes there. I looked at all exhausts and I would say the majority were V&H, second was Rineharts. I am no muffler expert and there were some "unmarked" (majority), so I cannot comment on them. I do like my V&H ovals, deep mellow sound cruising and bark quite nicely when shooting the juice to them..but to each their own.
OK guys, I need some advice. I know there is no shortage of that here! I am contemplating two different exhaust systems for my Road King. I posted tis here because these are not your typical bagger exhaust systems. I am either going to buy Vance and Hines longshots, or Vance and Hines 2 into 1 Pro Pipe. I am leaning toward the 2 into 1 because of the different sound and the HP gain. I have a 97 EVO with a Carb. Please give me some input and/or opinions. And Please, Don't hold back (yeah right!). Thanks. [sm=thanx.gif]
Between those 2 exhausts............I would go with the Pro Pipe HS 2-1.
The 2-1 will give you the best performance gains, and the unique sound.
When I bought my 02 FLHTCI it had Kerker slipons on it.
First thing I did was go to my dealer and bought some Brandnew stocker slipons for 25 bucks.
Put them on and took a 1 1/8" hole saw and popped out the rear baffle on them. I have more torque than I did with the Kerkers and I have a sound that I like.
Great rumble and talks just a little when you twist the throttle.
I personally like the 2 into 1's, don't care what type of HD they are on. With that said, if you would like a set of stock mufflers to modify, send me a pm. They are yours for the asking, if you pay the shipping
Thanks for the offer Bruce, but I'm tired of drilling and modifying just to save money. I have drilled, cut, and modified myself in circles with HD's cheap, $h**y factory exhaust [sm=headbang.gif]. I am ordering my V&H 2-1 TONIGHT!!![sm=icon_rock.gif]
I put the V&H Ovals on my RK. Not too loud, but sounds great runnig through the gears! V&H web site has .wav files so you can get an idea how the pipes are going to sound. Bought mine on ebay slightly used for nice savings. There are alot of great choices out there, these were right for me.
