Default Tire wear differences...

I have two bikes, a Road Glide and a Deuce. I run Metzeler ME880's on both bikes. With the Deuce I get 9000 miles on the rear and about 12K on the front. My wife rides the Deuce and weighs 130 pounds. I ride the Road Glide and I weight 230 pounds. The Road Glide gets 13K on the rear tire and 20K on the front tire. I ride harder than my wife (I wait at the bottom or top of a twisty hill for her to catch up).

Why does the Deuce get poorer tire mileage?

Cool

Hmmmm There might be a difference in how she uses the rear brake with the front brake vs how you do it. There may be a difference in how she downshifts and matches or doesn't match the engine RPM to MPH vs the way you do it........I have noticed that some of my female friends that ride do not match the RPM to MPH on downshifts and let the clutch slip a bit as the engine is accelerated to the proper speed by the transmission. They drive thier standard cars this way also. I cut my teeth as a kid Diving an old Diamond Rio Fire truck with straight cut gears ...if you didn't match em right pullin a hill you pulled over stopped and started from first again!
Just food for thought, then again it might be the way the moon lines up with Jupiter when Mars is in the Lunar......

What pressure do you run in each?

I run about 4-6 pounds more than manufacturer's recommendations as per manufacturer. She is a good rider and knows how to match rpm and mph very well.

This tire wear situation in not unique to my two bikes. I have friends with baggers and softtails and it seems to be the same situation for them.

I have seen this first hand myself this past weekend with my buddies. The D401's are standard on the cruisers, D402's are standard on Touring models. My buddy has an '06 FXDWG, I have an '06 FLHTI. Both bikes have same amount of miles, my tires looks perfect, his center tread is almost worn down. From what I see, the D402 Touring tires last longer.
