I bought the back rest listed below for my '08 Ultra, but the "legs" of the backrest are not long enough to reach even the top hole of the bracket??
If I could lock it in the lower 1/3 of the pad would be down in the seat hole.
The description doesn't indicate that there is any other kit needed.
anyone using this compact backrest on an '08 Ultra stock seat?

HarleyWood, I tried this same backrest on my stock 08 ultra seat and you are correct in that it isn't long enough, nothing I could do would make it work. I sent it back and bought the Adjustable Backrest and it fits perfectly. Nice way for the MOCO to make an extra $90. I know the HD website says the non adjustable one fits 08 touring bikes but it does not fit the Ultra.

I don't have the particular one shown in his picture but I do have the pillow look (NON ADJUSTABLE) one that I use occasionally on my 08 Ultra with the stock seat and your post is wrong IT WILL FIT AN ULTRA !!!

Peppa1, does that bracket and backrest on yours look the same as the one above?
I did some measuring and the one I have is about 1 1/2 " short of reaching the first hole on the bracket with the backrest all the way into the seat slot.
I have an 08 FLHT with the same backrest. it is tight but works fine. The FLHT is the same seat as your Ultra so I don't know what the problem could be.
The seat on the screamin eagle road king is MUCH less thick that the stock Ultra seat. Especially since the Ultra seat kinda "humps" up at the front of the passenger section. Notice how far the lower part of the tour pak backrest is from touching the seat on my bike. Ill bet on your Ultra, it extends down below/behind the rear of the seat.
Granted, they should SAY that in the catalog. Sometimes they are not so great with the details in their descriptions.
I have one thats literally from an 08 SE Roadking, and it works great for me, but my sundowner is probably 2 inches less thick at the front of the rear section.
