yep, and it's prorated from day 1, not the day that the factory warranty expires. plus, if the bike is financed, they will send the money to the lienholder, not you.

as far as the warranty being valid on a stage I, you're going to get as many different answers as there are dealers. some dealers will attempt to void the warranty if you so much as fart on the seat. others are much more 'forgiving'. best thing is to talk with your dealer and see what they say. course, you have to remember, that doesn't help you much if your 1000 miles from home and your bike dies.
in any case, for the warranty to be void, the modification that you did has to be responsible for the malfunction. see the magnuson-moss warranty act.
