Cant wait to get my TWR Missing-Link>>>
So I was heading to a poker run this morning with two other riding buds, and some other rider who joined in along the way. So the new guy starts to get on it a bit, and we went over the bridge at about 85 and climbing. After the bridge I down shifted into 5th and started hammering.....it was then that I hit that dip in the curve. The bike already was feeling a bit unstable because of the road surface (and the deficiencies in the pre 09 frame) but then the bars started to go into a sort of "tank slapper" not quite a full on stain you draws slapper, but the bars were oscillating dam hard. It takes quite a bit to get me nervous, but that did the job. A 850 pound bike at about 90MPH starts pulling **** like that it wakes you up REAL quick. So I knew what was going on and just road it out, and within about 3 or 4 seconds it went away with no more input from me than getting off the throttle. I have felt the wobble in the past, just never that strong....and 99% of the time when it started I could just trail brake w/the rear, and that would put a stop to it. This time I didnt think it would be prudent to touch the brakes at all.
In any case I ordered the TWR Missing-Link last week. It will be at my shop on Monday, and on my bike by Monday evening. I am quite sure that it and a change over to a set of Metezler Marathon ME880's will shape things up very nicely. I am going to install the TWR first, and see how she feels like that with the OEM Dunlops....then I will post my personal results. Just going from the research I have done, and talking to you guys who have already installed a rear stabilizer of one type or another I think it will help a bunch.
BTW: I have faith that my tracking is within spec because not too far down the road we caught a nice patch of clean clear blacktop and opened them up a bit. Me and my good riding bud were clipping along at just over 100MPH, and my StreetGlide felt solid as a rock.
True! Anyone still wondering should just get on with fitting one....
I fitted TrueTrack because they are the only brand I found who make a kit for my early evo. Out of a choice of one they are by far the best!
