Default reinstall ignition switch

ok i reinstalled the lower fairing cap after servicing front forks. now i cant seem to get the igniton to line up. everything is installed properly rite up to the point were you turn key 60 degrees past lock and insert into ignition assy. button is depressed but switch wont fall into place!

any help? dont want to spend the bucks and wait for alignment tool from the dealer

G'day blueflht put a 1/4 inch wide flat blade screwdriver all the way down from the top.Turn forks hard left lock and turn screwdriver to the left that will place the steering lock on. Now turn the top tumbler one click at a time until the ignition tumbler drops in.

I just replaced mine yesterday on a FLHX. PITA for a newb. Service manual stated I needed the alignment tool that no dealer would sell me bc I'm not a dealer....
I checked the ignition position with a voltmeter checking continuity between the 3 terminals, aligned the locking mechanism, then dropped it in.

My lock was broken somehow and the forks would not move.
