Yeah, what Heavymetalthunder said. You sure don't want one of those gawdawful ugly RoadGlides. I really think they should put all the control markings on those bike in braile, because you would have to be blind to own one. All those RoadGlide owners out there will fill you with their line of BS about how the bike handles so much better, but they are just justifying the 18 grand mistake they made when they bought their bikes. most of them bought RoadGlides because the dealer was out of ElectraGlides.

I'm happy with my Road Glide since I finally got it dialed in for me with a Clearview Windshield and Khrome Werks sweeper bars.

Keep in mind that an "out=of-box" Roady many not fit you without spending some money on these things.

I've had several harleys over the years. I had a street glide and now a road glide so I can probably give you a good comparison.

1st off the RG is a terrible, POS, don't waste your money on that ugly junk

----------
1. The street glide steering is quite a bit heavier because you are turning all of the front end components with the bars. The RG all you are turning is the front forks/wheels. It is a noticeable difference.

2. You get some front storage compartments in the fairing on the RG.

3. I had to get the tallest cee bailey's windshield they made to be even remote comfortable with the wind pocked on my SG. I am using the factory shield on my RG and am perfectly happy with it.

4. People always ask questions about my RG. When you are on a SG you are just on another bike.

Things I don't like about the RG:
1. I can't buy one from the factory equipped like an Ultra: CB, Intercom, Tourpack, Lowers

2. Hard Lowers come stripped down without the glove boxes. WTF is that about? The glove boxes add another $200 to them. I bought the lowers but haven't decided on the glove boxes.

3. I don't get to ride it near as much as I would like.

All in all the bikes are pretty much the same except for the fixed fairing. The fixed fairing does make it less tiresome to ride for long periods of time.

Yeah stay away! I traded a perfectly good, blinged out ultra and now I have a road glide that I keep adding stuff to, lowers etc, that the ultra already had. But I cant figure out why my smile is so big........oh man I LOVE THIS BIKE!

the reason they handle better is all the weight is on the frame and not the steering head, plus the do not shake the bars when you come up behind a semi at road speed.i have owned both and will never own a batwing fairing again.

I traded a 07 SG with a HQs 103 motor, 21/18 wheels, custom paint, and more chrome than the Shah of Iran had medals for an 08 RG and I still had to pay them $120 this is my third Harley in 4 years -- I had to have it -- it is an excellent riding bike -- this one I will keep or trade it in for 2010 RG

I am in my early 20's, and have been slightly obsessed with motorcycles since I can remember and I could identify different models of Harley's before I can recall, or so said my parents...

None of this really make me an expert, but after years of deliberating and obsessing over what bike I wanted, I went with a Road Glide for most of the reasons you see here.

Riding with a batwing at speed or against traffic on a 2-lane road feels like trying to steer a bus after riding a RG...I don't need the added fatigue of having to battle wind on a long ride if I don't have to.

Do yourself a favor and test ride both the RG and the Ultra.

I had a RG for a week that I put about 1500 miles on while my Ultra was in the shop. The buffeting on the RG was REALLY bad. I couldn't wait to get my Ultra back.

I do like the compartments on the RG but I hated the radio being so far out of view and reach.

I also had many people tell me it was ugly. It was vivid black. Just my 2 cents. Like I said ride them both before you make your final decision.

They stick out alright, like a sore thumb. I went to demo days last weekend and in a sea of Harley's my poor lone Road Glide sat there all alone, being shuned by all the real Harley's that were there. Even the couple of goldwingers there wouldn't look at it, to Freakin' ugly. I did ride a screamin' eagle 09 Road Glide and it was just begging me to take it home. But alas, I have no room for it in my bank accout. It's a shame I tell you.
