That is kinda what happened to me.
Last January my local dealer had a "Local Demo Day".
One model from every catagory of Harley that they had in stock.
Road King was the touring model to test ride.
It only took about 2 miles to know I was gonna trade my decked out '07 Fat Boy.
Ordered my Street Glide in February.
Time of trading was the only decession I had to make. I was hooked.
Been riding with a fairing for 40 years and it may not be cool but logged close to 450,000 miles. To each his own but I like the protection and not being beat to death by the wind. I know those die harts will say I'm not real biker and that's OK so get a bagger and enjoy! You can always use quik release stuff for around town.
I bought a fat boy first, added a stage 1 bore kit, windshield, hard bags and an engine guard. The riding position seemed bad for length rides. So I bought a Road King Classic, added buffalo bars, stainless cables/controls, stage 1 bore kit, and hard bags. I love detaching the windshield and taking it for an 80 mph wind ride on the interstate to clear my head. Last month I bought a KTM 990 to do some off road riding. I still want to get a third bike, an Ultra Classic to tool around in. Get a bike for every occassion if you can. I may have to dump my Road King Classic to get my Ultra though. Things are kinda tight.
it seems thats how alot of us got hooked on baggers!!!!! Good luck. I too had a super glide before and had traded my partner for his RKC for a short ride.....well the rest is history, away with the super and in with the streetglide!!! NO REGRETS!
Welcome to the Dark side...pick a color and get the check book handy....it will cost you for all the fancy goody's you will find......Baggers are the way to go.....i am convenced i am on my 2nd one now....just almost finishing my 99 the way i want it....i have only had this one 2 years........Good luck and Have fun...
