My IDS has come apart. actually the inner part that holds the belt in place completely came off and is now dangling around the hub. can someone please E-mail me a scanned copy of the installation instructions, so i will have something to reference. If you can help my e-mail address is MMATH0829@AOL.COM thanks for any help. This is for the retro fit on an 07

My suggestion would be to take it to a dealer and have them repair it. I had the first IDS installed on my early 07 ultra and after long trip, found that my wheel would turn about a 1/2 round before the hub would start turning the belt. I took it back and they were very
concerned. Found out I could have had very severe accident if I had continued. The kit comes with a trial bolt. You have to screw the trial bolt into the wheel hub and if it bottoms out before the bolt completely seats, the Hub has to be drilled out to accommodate the length of the bolts and so you will have the ability to torque the bolts down. The idiot that did my IDS did not drill out the hub, so the whole thing came loose.
I would suggest getting a new tire at the same time and saving the cost of labor for tire installation. Bldr
I have had mine on for about 11K miles. and no problem. I am going to pull it off and see if i can spot anything. If not i will just order a new IDS sprocket and put it back together. I will lay odds the bearing went bad in it.
No pics yet, but I did take it off, if you look at a rear sprocket, the belt of course just sits down in the sprocket, the inside ring came off. not a mark on it, belt looks fine and the ring it is smooth as it can be. just looks like the ring wasn't connected to the sprocket properly. will try and post some pics tonight.
Anyone know of a reason that would cause this other than just defective part. and all the spacers were in the right places and everything was tight.
no, If you look at the sprocket the inner part that contains the belt. it came off. will take some pics when I get it apart
I thought the inter part bolted to the hub. Then the outer part just slipped over it with the rubber bumpers in the slots to provide the cushion. The outside piece just sits on it and the axle and nut holds it together. I'm easily confused so I may not be helping you at all.
Sounds like a defective sprocket to me. Its a cast part. There is no ring to come off...is there? Could be an alignment issue and the belt just cut the inner flange off. I'll be interested to see those pics.
