Question Tree Sap Burnt on Pipes **HELP**

A few weeks back I was at a Rally and got tree sap on my pipes that I didn't notice until I got home. It burnt on my heat sheilds and I don't know how to get it off. I tried "never dull" and mineral spirits but no luck.

Any ideas out there??

Fine steel wool with the never dull should work.

try goof off on a cotton ball steel wool will sctach the chrome, you have to disolve the sap not scrape it off.

I would try WD40 on a soft rag combined with lots of patience. Once it gets soft enough you may be able to scrape it with your thumbnail.

Good luck.

Default 0000 Steel wool will not scratch chrome

A guy from a detail shop told me to use 000 or 0000 steel wool dipped in car wax to clean rust, gunk off of chrome. I have used it for years on my honda and my kawasaki, and it works great plus when you wipe it with a rag afterwords the car wax makes it nice and shiny.

Easy Off Cold Oven Cleaner. Spray it on and leave it for a few hours, or over night. Then wipe it off.

I have had great results using an old credit card. Warning do this on a cold pipe only or you will have another mess to clean up!

Just hold the card with the edge of the card doing the scraping parallel to the pipe and push the card firmly and quickly at the spot. The edge of the card will chisel the spot off and the plastic is soft enough to not scratch the chrome. I used this technique to get the remnants of a glove that slipped off my seat and draped it's self on a hot pipe!
