Way to go! But a Road Glide? Why would anyone want one?
Just had the 5,000 mile service on my '08 - best bike I've ever owned.
I sat on Street Glides and Ultras too and honestly the Road Glide seemed to fit me like a glove. The others I felt crowded on. I noticed the RG had slightly different handle bars and that contributed to the perfect fit. The rest is more illusion with the gauges moved further front on the fairing. Plus I like the fixed fairing too. It was the only HD for me.
Barb's is in West Collingswood on the Black Horse pike (near Camden, right off of I-295). I bought my 07 RK there and it had to be the most pain-free, easiest buying experience I've had. I admit, at first the red denim didn't do it for me, but it did grow on me over time. Sounds weird, but the color isn't the big of a deal to me myself.
Unless you live in the state that has no sales tax. Gotta love it!!!
BTW sounds like you got a good deal. Seems like it is hit or miss with different deals at the same dealership or trying to match or beat deals. I might be dealing on an 09 if this sale of my 08 goes through. First time in a while I'll be dealing with no trade.
LOL. Dunno yet. If anything. Wasn't really looking to buy anything but a guy at work asked if I was interested in selling my SG. I played along and gave him a number. He liked it. It is $750 over the price I paid plus the cost of the tour pak and all of the hardware. Just gotta wait to see if he is gonna go through with it.
If the deal goes through I will obviously be looking at an 09. Either an Ultra, a Classic or I may even give the Road Glide a second try.

And the Presidents were debating about our poor economy?? I guess they do not read this forum!!!!
Think I got a good deal? (I certainly do!)
MSRP for the base bike in color is $19,049
Here's what I paid:
$ 18,500 for the Bike
$ 0 - Security System included at no charge
$ 0 - Freight / Delivery fee
$ 800 - ABS Brakes
$ 1,500 - extended warranty, full 7 years
$ 91. - Title fee
$ 0 - Set up fee waived w/ extended warranty purchase
(Plus Sales tax which you will pay no matter what or where you live.)
In addition, they give you a 20% discount on all aftermarker accessories purchased in the first two months, or first three purchases, whichever come first.
I just bought the same bike at my local dealer yesterday and although I feel good about my deal I certainly didn't come out quite as good as you. I actually wrote out your numbers and brought them in to the negotiations. Immediately my salesman says "there is NO way any dealer could make this deal. They would be losing money and ultimately allocation of new bikes in from the MoCo."
His claims specifically: 1. Can't sell a color bike for the price of a black one. The MoCo charges the dealers for the paint option so they have to pass it on to the customer. 2. Freight is non-negotiable. Dealers have to pay to get the bikes to them. Period the end. 3. Set-up is also non negotiable as they incur labor time from their shop technicians to prep the bikes and so is a direct charge/fee.
I was offered the 7 year warranty for $1500 (by the way, this is really only a 5 year warranty because it is not tacked on to the end of the OEM 2 year...it is 7 years total...in essence then one is paying $300/yr at this price.)
My deal was basically $300 below MSRP and 10% off parts and accessories for 3 months and I had to fight to get that. I bought a black pearl model (WOW...GORGEOUS in the sunlight!) and I am certainly happy but having just gone through the new bike buying process and comparing our deals/experiences it really makes me wonder how (and why) different dealers operate so differently.
my dealer told me to buy the warranty at the end of the 2 year period. If you buy the extended warranty with the bike, thats the warranty that covers it from day one and it is not as good as the OEM 2 year warranty. Less items covered. He says to add it on before the 2 years is up. You get a better warranty that. JMO

Funny you mention that...we figured out the same thing at my dealership. The saleman had to go and check with the manager to confirm that HD would allow it. I will probably buy it after the two years. At least the MoCo has stepped up with a better/longer warranty than the weak one-year they used to offer. I see Japanese manufacturers offering 5 year unlimited mileage warranties and BMW has had a 3/36 for decades. C'mon Milwaukee!!
