I have an INA bearing on my desk and what you have looks exactly like part of a bearing cage. If they pull the transmission have them put Timken bearings back in even if you have to pay a little extra, INA bearings are not worth putting in as long as it's apart. Others are right DON'T ride it to the dealer have them pick it up. Also if you can look all of the gears over when it is apart I'm sure there is going to be damage and they should replace ALL of the bearings while it is apart as the debris has probably damaged them.

Scooty,

good info, besides indentifying the chunks, I was looking for input regarding what to do next, like changing bearings to Timken and figuring all the bearings are shot due to the debris, I agree, 1/2 of it is still in the tranny case and I did see at the bottom of the pan I drained the tranny oil into, probably 50 or 60 tiny specs of metal. If you look at the pic that shows the back side, the piece on the right shows signs of being caught in the trans gears so I agree that there's probably gear damage. If this work is being performed by the dealer thru my extended service plan, how can I control the repairs, like all bearings being replaced and being able to eyeball the gear cluster for damage or do they just repair without my input with the exception of changing out the stock/INA bearings to Timken?

It's your bike, you have every right in the world to know what is going on and to see what they are doing. On warranty work they will try to fix or replace the minimum amount of parts however if you were paying it would be a different story unless you have an extremely honest and reputable dealer. Just tell them up front that when they have it torn down that you would like to look at it and if you are not sure what to look for take someone with you who does.
