Was trouble shooting the neutral light not working on my bros bike (2005 FLHT) and seen a 1/4 tube under the seat that looked cut.
Removed side cover and it had been sheared off by the belt. Further inspection showed that the tube ran up under the console the sheared end used to be attached to a small football sized canister that is bouncing around loose and hitting the belt.
I do not know if it is for fuel vapor expansion or what. I do know the only way to get it out is to remove the starter.
Bro has a warranty so off it will go to the dealer for the neutral indicator and the canister.
As noted above, it is probalby the evap. canister.
Reno and Carson HD order Ca. smog equipped bikes so that they can sell to California buyers.
The canister can be removed but you need to know which tubes to plug and which to leave open.
