What and How do you all of you out there do and use to lube the shift rod in the inner primary case? Mine is starting to squeek alittle when I shift. The rod wont come out without removing the inner primary, and it will only slide back a little ways. The moco doesn't put a grease nipple on the case anymore. Let me know what you guys do.
Thanks
I had a problem when the shaft got too tight and would not let the shift lever return when downshifting. That's when I decided to drill and tap the primary case. Simple job. Here's a pic:
I'm with Steve on this one , on my last bike I dilled and tapped it for a 1/4-28 and installed
a 1/4-28 straight grease fitting.
If you remove the inner lever and work the shaft with PB Blaster , you should be able to get it out , and I was able to drill and tap it while on the bike (no case removal needed).
It won't be long before the 09 gets this mod also.

Cant be that hard. Ive had my original shaft out to lube it already.
I saw it on the Pingel website and J&M website I think its in the $60's range.
Wish I had access to a machine shop, know what I mean?
.
I installed a chrome inner primary before talking with Dawg concerning drilling it for a lube fitting. Oh well.

I also did this mod and used Heim joint on the shift rod.
Shifts like butter now!
Why are you going to lube the shift rod its only going to fall off anyway. Seriously, that is a good idea about installing the grease fitting and that shaft is very cool.

Use a allen wrench and take the bolt out of the lever on the inside then take the lever that sticks up on the inside of your primary off then the whole thing will pul out. you can
then clean it up and grease it and put it back together. It would be a good time to drill
and tap it for a fitting
