A friend of mine and ex-Co-worker had a fatal wreck yesterday morning. He was actually a fairly new member here on the board but I can not remember his screen name I do know that "King" was in it since he had a Road King. He was hit by a Dodge Ram truck with a big grill guard at a busy intersection. They had to pull him from under the truck and he was not wearing a helmet. That is all that was released so far.
His name was Dennis Dans 39 yrs old lived Arlington, TX but was from Louisianna.
A story like this always makes us stop, think and be thankful for the safety we have had thus far. Very sorry to hear about your loss of a good friend and condolences to the family
My condolences to you for the loss of your friend / ex co-worker and to their families for their loss.
As much as I love the freedom to choose whether I wear a helmet or not, I can tell you that I am damn lucky to be alive after my accident in April (I wasn't wearing either my 3/4 nor my modular full helmet). As a result, I have, for the few short demo rides that I have done, worn my helmet for all riding and will do so from now on.
For those who have a choice, I recommend you take a long hard look at the current status of cagers and bikers in your area. There have been far too many bad situations that involve bikes & cages!
