Dude, having spent a year in Baghdad (2003-2004) I know a little about the emotions you're feeling; I'm excited for you knowing how much fun you must be having on the new bike and just how nice it is to be here then there!!
One note about your bike, you mention about the windscreen not being just right for you.
I'm 6'2 and my eyes looked through the curved part of the screen at the top that annoyed me. I had to change my seat for my comfort and the CandC seat I bought lowered me perfectly and so the original screen is just right now.
Just something you might want to consider.
Welcome back, thank you for your service, and enjoy your new bike.
I don't like looking through the windshield either, especially in the rain. I bought a shorter one, but they are fairly easy to cut down with a jigsaw, just do a search on this forum for more info.
Troy.. If it wasn't for guys and gals like you that protect us and our freedoms none of us would be ridding our bikes or doing many other thing we do in this country. Thank you!
Now to your new bike...Enjoy, Be Safe and Congratulations.

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!
yep, if you've been there you know. Glad to see your retired.
My thing is i dont want to look through the windscreen. I can look over it if i set up, but from a normal spot, I look at the curve. I am thinking about an 8 in wind vest.
I have a 2009 Ultra Classic and this may sound silly, but I finally read the owner's manual front to back and learned you have to enable the idle temperature management system (or whatever it is called) because it is disabled from the factory. I have some Vance & Hines ovals on mine, really haven't had a problem with heat though..even in traffic.
Welcome back from the **** hole, I just retired after 20 years and I've been messing with that place since 1990. Bring back the tactical nukes.
God bless you and your family, and the "brothers in arms". Glad you're safe, hope your brothers are home safe and sound soon.
Had my '09 for a month now, totally stock and love it the way it is, just added visors and cosmetic stuff. Need a rack yet and back rest that's been on order forever.
