grow up.
You don't want a helmet, don't wear a helmet. I for one choose to wear one, and would prefer that it is as effective as it can be and not some cheap pile of sh*t that wont do anything if/when i need it to.
Maybe if we had a little more government intervention in certain sectors, our economy would not be in the toilet right now. Oh, thats right, bitch about them when they try to do something, cry about it when they don't.
it's not the intention thats bad - it's the aftermath & results that always are taken past the original intention that takes away our freedoms & deflates our wallets

I think what a lot of people are trying to say is they don't want Uncle Sam telling them what to do. Wear a helmet if you want don't if you want. I unfortunately live in a helmet state and have to wear one. I do wear a novilty helmet because I cannot stand the weight and size of most of the DOT helmets. I rode in Texas for 30 years and never even owned a helmet until moving to Tennessee. This should be a matter of choice and not law.
The point is like said above is the Larger DOT sticker mandate will end up increasing the price of helmets and no doubt will retire your old pre-DOT helmet.
What's next annual helmet inspection stickers?

What? $10? A 20K harley is no problem, but a $100 helmet is?

considering the number of guys I see riding around with 15+ year old rotting helmets pulled out of their cousins storage shed, oblivious to the fact that the styrofoam liners DETERIORATE with age... might not be a bad idea. (and no, I don't mean that LITERALLY)
