I just spoke to the dealer again.
i told her of my confusion and she told me she would advise me on an 08. I am almost certain she is trying to get ride of her 08 stock.
However, i am getting it $3k cheaper than 09 plus she would throw in VH oval slip-ons and do the Engine Idle Management software.
I am not a huge fan of the new exhaust system since the roads where i live tend to be a bit on the bumpy side. Thus the exhaust cross over from right side to left side, under the bike might get hurt.
I love the fat tire BUT:
1- If i get the 09, i would pay $3000 more.
2- I would still have to invest on the slip ons.
$3,000 diff. is a lot. If you keep it a few years the resale on a 09 won't be 3K more than an 08 Might not be any more if some kind of wierd crack or something in the new frame shows up in a year or two. I have always been leary of buying the first year of a big change.
Rabbas, how much are they trying to sell the 08 to you for? The reason I ask is some stealers play with the number and your not really getting the deal you think you are.
And if the bike has a build date later than December 3, 2007, there not giving you anything. The bike already has it.
Bert, in Egypt we have custom duties of about 45% on the retail price :-(
a brand new 09 road king classic would cost roughly that is equivalent to $25k (yes twenty five thousand dollars thanks to the government and its taxes). I would get the 08 with the slip ons for only $22k.
May depend on the kind of riding you do. I ride my bike 30 miles one way to work everyday four months out of the year. 20 of that 30 miles is on a rain grooved highway which causes a front end waggle that wears me out. I test rode a 09 Ultra and 09 SG and they were rock solid on the same highway. So for me, that and the ABS is the reason for considering higher payments.
I know the looks of the wide tire is attractive for many folks, but I think ride quality for your style is a bit more important. If handleing isn't an issue between the two bikes, then saving $3000 and slip-ons might be worth sacrifice.

My mistake, I should have look up at your location. I didn't realize you where outside the US.
Well at least you have more information than you started with. Now the decision is up to you.

Thanx Beary for the input. you make sense my friend.
I basically ride on longer cross country trips.
I never ride in the rain. We dont have much rain in Egypt anyways. It is dry most of the year.
08 has ABS on it.

Thanks bro for the input and the advice. I am guessing i will go for the 08.
The dealer already took my FXDC in his van couple of hours ago.
Man it hurts to bid your first bike farewell
