I live in Northern VA. I ride all year, minus the Ice and snow. Gerbing is my call as well. I only have the gloves with the controller. Foxcreek lined pants, and foxcreek jacket, and I layer. Works fine for me. I have a 27 mile ride to work and speeds vary from 30 to 65. (note: my RK custom has lowers and a batwing.)
I have used the Gerbing gloves/jacket liner/dual thermostat for 7 years. The thermostat broke two years ago. That is when I discovered Warm n Safe. Bought thier thermostat. Last year I added the W n S gloves and they are much warmer than the Gerbings. This year I added the WnS jacket. They came out with one that is longer in the torso.
Electrics will do the job with a light jacket over the top through about freezing. After that, you'll need an extra fleece liner over the electric jacket. Remember, the Elect Jacket shoulf fit snug and against you; not be loose fitting.
I tried a pair of gerbing overpants and don't care for them. I usually just use overpants (Aerostich Darien) and that gets me by to/from work. BTW, my commute is into DC daily, 105 miles round-trip. I miss maybe 10 days a year riding (snow/ice).

Damn, you're my hero! I'll ride down into the low-mid 20's, but that's it. I'm mainly concerned about running into patches of black ice on the road. Don't supposed you have a link for the Warm n Safe?
Freedom heated gear in Canada, made in Saskatchawan, got the chap liner, jacket liner and heated gloves and put a balaclava on when it gets real chilly to protect the face..............no not making any 7 eleven withdrawals
Ditto on Gerbings Jacket liner and G3 gloves. Makes these older hands feel a lot better in cold riding. Another hint for winter riding; I carry a pair of bungee cords that came of a large tent. The ones that are are looped shape with large black plastic ball on the end. I use them as blousing rubbers, to keep the air from going up the pants. They work well when I wear chaps. When not in use, I bind all the rain gear together in the saddlebag. With the large ball on the end, they can be put on and off with thick gloves on.
