Last month a bought a 2009 FLHTCU and had the HD dealer lower the front and the back. I really love the bike, but no matter what psi I run in the rear shocks the ride is really rough. I used the new low profile shocks that are now stock on the 2009 Streetglide.
Does anyone have an good advice as to how I can improve the ride, but still keep the bike lowered?
Maybe you're making too much of a change in the pressure each time. Try starting out at very low pressure and then only add a couple of pounds change at a time.
Have you considered new shocks? I went with custom Penske shocks from motorcyclemetal.com (fastharley on this site). I have a 2008 Streetglide, and the Penske shocks are amazing. Great ride, great handling, entirely adjustable.
I was gonna say lowering will almost always change the characteristics of your ride and make it rougher, unless you get some better shocks. Check out the HI-Lo Rider system at www.bikebuddypro.com for the baggers. I know a couple of guys who have them and love them on their baggers. LIFetime guarantee. I have it on my softy and it is incomporable to anything else I have ever tried. Not cheap, but worth the dough. Call up Aaron at (818) 203-2853 and tell him Andrew sent you.
Try just lowering the rear tire pressure about 2 lbs I don't know about the 09's with the wider tire but it makes a difference in ride on the older bikes
I don't work for him, but wish I did. His stuff is quality and he is quality. He will get you the right shocks for your bike and stay with you till you are thrilled. I have his Penske's and I'm fine tuning them like a watch.
