was ridin down Oceanside Blvd,Oceanside Cali, 1980, me on my 79 Sporty, my buddy on a 750 Honda Hartail Chopper. Drunk, we race off a green light in the late hours after the bars closed, he blows the doors off me, but as I see him comming to a stop ahead at the next red light, he just tips over! I pull up, put the kickstand down, and jump off to help him out from under the bike. I says..."what the F*ck happened?"...he just gives me a stupid look and says, "I just forgot to put my feet down"....it happens...don't sweat it...

I don't know, I can't figure it out; I was taught front brake a split second before the rear brake. Sometimes it's so smooth I'm impressed and think Wow... I could ride like that for days... all of a sudden I make a terrible stop.

I'm trying to learn to stop using only the front brake. Two friends brake that way all the time and damn if they're not both good riders and stop stright every time.

I agree with everyone saying "practice" and using your brakes simultaneously. Also, if you haven't taken a MSF, do it. Best thing money can buy.

+1 to all y'all who said don't over think it! I used to fly single engine planes years ago, and the best way to make a bad landing is to white knuckle it or try to impress your passengers.

There are rears brakes on a Harley?

I NEVER use the rear... except when I have to. 97% of my stops are front brake only... and I try not to take my feet off the highway pegs (its just too comfortable, all stretched out like that), if it is just a "slow-down" or 1 second stop. Balance on a SLOW bike is lots of practice...
