Hi, I just put on the harley davidson adjustable drivers back rest today and took it out for a ride and it feals very uncomfortable, It is above the swell of my back iven in the lowest position.Where is everyone elses poitioned at is that where it should be or am I gonna have to customize it? I know its personal preferance, But I would just like a rough Idea where to start. Thanks in advanced, T
mine pushed me too far forward......so I bent the flat bar a bit to get it back some...wasn't enough so I took the cover off and shaved the foam down with an electric carving knife...fits my back much better and doesn't push me forward so much...........
get used to the backrest and it is very comfortable, relaxed riding....can't hardly do without it now.........
Mine has an adustable screw on back that moves it forward or back. I dont have any problems with it.
I recall the screw on the one I had just adjusted the tilt angle of the pad, not forward or back.
I had to bend the crap out of mine to get '1/2 happy' with it. In the end I got rid of it.
I have the H-D adjustable backrest for my '07 and I have a grabrail from a '05 installed and that forced the rest forward. I ended up puting a torch to the bar, bent a few degrees more and all is well. Touched it up with black bbq paint and have it pushed down all the way and it fits great. Just wish H-D would put the proper amount of bend in it in the first place.
Mine sticks out of the seat about 3/4 inches, and the pad rests against the small of my back..just below the ribs... but that's ME... took me maybe 3 months to position it "just right"
Went with a buddy, yesterday, picked up HIS backrest, for his '09 Ultra... I think we stopped every 50 miles and tweeked it... dunno if his is right yet
