Default Tolls?

We are planning on doing some touring through the northern states this spring, perhaps the HD factory and museum. My wife, (who is always thinking!) brought up a good point... being from Canada we do not have all the toll booths you guys have got. What do you guys do to pay tolls in the States? keep a change purse handy?

I just stop the bike and reach in my pocket, But If your wife is with you just before the toll booth it will tell you how much to pay, she can be getting it out of the change purse while you roll up to the booth, Just have her hand it over and you keep your hands on the grips.... I used to have to go thru a booth everyday for work and I used one of the screws on the handle bar controls and placed a alligator clip to it and before I left the driveway or work I would put the change in it and then at the booth I wouldnt have to take my gloves off just grabbed the change out of the clip and threw it in, Worked great for everyday use but you will definetly need to do something different.

You can avoid toll roads, use the back roads and enjoy the trip on less traveled roads.

I hide my plate number and just ride through them. Little advice, men dont really carry purses in most of the states.

Same here, avoid the toll roads. I think the smaller roads are more enjoyable riding anyway!

Yep, use byways, not highways. Plan your route using Google Maps and, unless you've got to get across some megalopolis of a city, just click on the "Avoid Highways" (interstates) and "Avoid Toll Roads" options. Makes for a MUCH more enjoyable trip.
