How about a pager? At least if somebody picks up the bike the pager will go off and you may be able to deter the theft or at least report it quickly. Anybody agree/disagree? Can the thieves disable an alarm system successfully before it sets off the pager? I'm thinking of paying the $199 for a pager for my factory alarm system as that one extra step. I don't want to carry a big cable and lock around with me and most of the time you can't find anything to chain the bike to anyway.

Taking into a motel room designed for the handicapped? I totally think that's wrong. What if a handicapped person shows up at the hotel that night and needs a room?

I live in New Jersey. Need I say anything further?
So do I... I use the ignition lock that come on the bike and nothing else. If they want it, they'll get it and there's nothing we can do about it. Just keep good insurance.

Why not do it Iraq style and make a martyr out of the guy? You just have to remember to disarm the package after coffee in the morning.

THAT'S THE ONE! It looks about as tough a lock and chain as I'm ever gonna find. But as a few of you have pointed out, it depends on weather or not there is anything conveniently located to chain the bike to. Insurance? Absolutely! But I think deterrence is the first line of defence.

Lock the forks, use the factory alarm, and a disc lock. If they want it that bad, they will get it. Thats why I'm insured.

When the front forks are locked. 2 guys can set the front wheel on a skate board and away they go (seen it done). If possable lock the rear wheel and lock the forks.
