Monster, I've been there for you when you traded your first SG in for a RG. Then the RG in for an 08 SG. Let me tell ya. I go through the same thing.
The way to stop is to just buy an Ultra. See I knew if I bought a Classic I'd end up looking for Ultras in a year or two. I knew I'd want the lowers and the lighted tourpak eventually. I even knew I'd want ABS and the CB (that I'm still not using) eventually. I got tired of trading and starting again and again. So... I gave myself an "Intervention". I just went and bought the Ultra with ABS. Now I know there is nothing to upgrade to. Now I am surely done right???? I hope.
One thing I wanted to mention in all honesty is the paint scheme and tank emblems are much nicer on an Ultra. The Classic emblem is kinda cheesy on the tank. You'll be looking over at somebodys Ultra and thinking...man I should have bought one of those...
For $2,ooo difference i can buy any tank and fender emblem i want!
Yeah you'd be getting ripped off too. But hey it's your money. I got a lot more than a tank emblem for my 2K. Actually it was only about 1K more than the Classic but whos counting...
Now that I think about it, you shouldn't buy a Classic or Ultra at all. Get a vespa and put a Bat wing on that pup!!! Shoot, you'd be saving tons and could afford all kinds of tank emblems... It's all about saving money right?
Congrats Monster. I'm sure you will be very happy on the Classic. I for one think lp is out of his mind. Why would you want to jump all the way to the flagship model. Half the fun is upgrading. Something you've become an expert at!
I take it you got your SG sold to the private party that wanted it. Congrats. That's the way to do it.
Congrats! Same thing here! Loved my 08 eg classic but when i saw that black pearl rg with the big tire, etc. I was done...at least that what my wife told me!!!! Enjoy and ride safe
Thanks guys. As far as the decision between the Classic and the Ultra the wife and I talked about it. Rear speakers are not needed because she can hear the fronts just fine. Have no desire for lowers and they interfere with how I set my highway pegs anyway. I'm short legged and need them close to the floorboards. CB don't want or need. And the lights on the tour pak are a bit busy for me anyway. I am adding the LED lower marker lights and the Air Wing rack with LED brake light. Originally we were gonna go with the Flame Blue Pearl/Pewter Pearl but the more we looked at it the more it reminded us of a Dallas Cowboys helmet. So we went with the solid Flame Blue Pearl. Gonna add my own two-tone touch later down the line.
lp: Funny you should say that about the tank emblem. I kinda like the one on the Classic. And with it being a decal it is easier to clean. Gonna be a moot point when I two-tone it anyway.
Zach: Yeah selling it outright. Just hope the ****** doesn't decide to back out now. If he does I already know what I can get on trade. Not gonna take a loss but I'd do better with the sale.
Good luck with the new scoot. I'm sure you're gonna love it. How about a report once it arrives about all the things you really like/dislike, why, and what the impact of the 09 changes have made. Thanks.
