Unhappy Dropped my Electra Glide Classic today

I came to a 4 way intersection that if you turned right you only had to yield. I slowed down watched the cars at the other stop signs to see if any were turning my way, started to speed up and there in the middle of my lane was a stop sign with a round pole someone had taken out during the night. I slammed on the brakes and got almost stopped before I hit the sign which brought me to a dead stop. I did not get my leg down in time and the bike fell over. I tried several times to pick it up before a couple of guys in trucks stopped and helped me pick it up. We moved the sign out of the middle of the road and I tried to start the bike. It would not start so I pulled into the grass and gave it about 5 minutes, then it started and I came on to work. As far as I can see in the dark the only damage is the highway bar looks a little crooked and I had to straiten my mirror back. No scrates on the paint. I hope the rest of the day goes better.

Highway bars can bend the frame.....if you landed hard enough to bend the highway bar....well...you should have the frame looked over, IMHO.

Glad you're ok.

There is a special procedure to picking up a dresser. I saw a u-tube on it recently, but lost the link. It involves backing up to the downed bike, grabbing the handle bars with one hand and the saddle bag guards with the other, keeping your back straight using your legs backing up against the seat while raising up your arms. Oh, put the jiffy stand down first to catch it when it goes over center the other way.
There is also a "tip over" sensor that automatically cuts off the motor to prevent damage. To restart, you have to cycle the on-off switch a couple of times to reset it.

that's the youtube video that works for a dresser too. Thanks for putting it up! I don't think even the great Charles Atlas could walk up, bend over and pick up a tipped over Harley Davidson dresser. But you can back into it and pick it up with your legs and butt. Don't ask me how I know~
