Default Fork oil Question

I'm dropping my 08 RK -1in- with the HD lowering kit and was wondering if I should use the Screaming eagle fork oil. Will this help the ride and less bottoming out? TIA

Search the forum. Most of these guys like the SE Heavy Duty fork oil.

I use Bel-Ray 20w, myself. No particular reason that I use this brand over the SE other than I try to support my Indy shop.

Should make your scoot a better ride.

Now would be the time to add chrome/black/color of your choice lowers & cowbells.

Have fun on the install. Not a hard mod. Don't scratch anything!

I would recommend the HD Screamin' Eagle heavy duty. Not the race version. It will give it a nice firm feel without creating any jarring effect.

Yes, I just changed my fork oil and replaced it with SE Heavy (#99881-87). I would say it is a definite improvement with no downside except a slightly firmer ride--not harsh, just firmer. Dive and bottoming are both better-controlled, and since doing the change I haven't had any bottoming at all.

HD also makes an SE Extra Heavy fork oil (Racing), but although I haven't tried it I don't think you'd gain anything by using it, and the downside would be an even firmer ride. Control is very good with the SE Heavy.

For any of you with late-model FLH's who want to change the oil quickly and easily without removing and disassembling the forks, check out the link below. This thread started out as a query about doing this and by page 5 I decided I'd go ahead and try it myself. It worked better than expected and took about an hour for both forks.

+1 on iclicks post. i use the s/e heavy in my front and 10 wt synthetic in the rear . much firmer ride without the sloppy bottoming habits!

Thanks for the info guys. iclick did you go with the shorter air shocks(street glide) or a progressive style rear shock. I ride 80% solo and 20% two up. TIA
