I need a set of mirrors with a longer stem than the factory mirrors. I can't see around my shoulders with the factory mirrors. I'll take some ideas on this...
I have an 05 Ultra and had the same issue - here is what I did - in chronological order:
Mirror Extension Kit
Chrome-plated extenders relocate mirrors approximately two inches higher.
91907-87
Fits all models. (pair)
MSRP US $22.50
Not good enough - so went retro and got old style mirrors with long stems (and still used the extensions) . They have a nice matching black rubber outer ring too.
Chrome Long Stem Mirrors
This product is available in multiple variations. Be sure to look for the one that fits the specific model and year of your motorcycle.
91904-88A
Chrome Convex, Right Side
MSRP US $27.00
OK - long stem and extensions look great and are really "out there" but vibration at idle shakes the bejesus out of them.
Fairing Mount Mirrors
Fairing Mount Mirrors offer a truly innovative look from the traditional handlebar-mounted mirrors. Mounting just inside the inner fairing, the molded plastic mirror housings complement the contours of the '96-later FLHT fairing. They provide a wide range of adjustability and feature convex mirror glass that maximizes your field of view. The "Bar & Shield" logo is carefully laser-etched on each mirror glass. Kit includes all necessary hardware, instructions and mounting template all easy installation. Made in the U.S.A.
91945-98B
Fits '96-later FLHT, FLHTC and FLHTCU models.
MSRP US $59.95
Fairing mirrors are a little pain in the a$$ to install but well worth it - they don't vibrate at all.
AND YES, NOW I HAVE FOUR MIRRORS IN PLACE TO KEEP AN EYE ON THOSE CAGERS.
I put the mirror extensions on mine (see above). For me they were just the trick. At $22 they are cheap by Harley standards. And they put the mirrors up high enough so that I get more than just a nice view of my shoulders.
