Also, I've seen heat shields for these mufflers that cover the whole thing, back past the cone, so if they did discolor you wouldn't see it. Kind of makes the muffler look like the stock unit. I think there's also a shorter version of the heat shield that's 14" long? Pretty sure I saw that in the J&P catalog. But that would still leave the cone uncovered. Had planned on buying those to cover the yellowed area on my left muffler, but never bothered. You can't see it when the bike is on it's stand, unless you get down on your hands and knees. If you do that, you deserve to see what you see.

If you have it tuned correctly they should not blue. They do tend to yellow a bit. Mine had the slightest hint of yellowing but it is not visible unless you hold them side by side. Here are 2 pics of mine with over 20K miles on them. You can see a little carbon in front of the cone - it will come clean with a little work.

They sound bada$$ but they are loud - loud enough that I took them off.

They make NOISE but they will also blue fast...

I concidered them but everyone i seen with em turned yellow or blue, or a combo of the both. not for me. but i have to admit....they do sound good.

The only time that it is really loud to cause a Ticket is when you hit it Hard in closed areas, i have had my pipes for 2years and i Ride in some of the strictest areas with no Issues.
