Something Special
Did not ride for 10 days because the bike was in the shop. It was as if something was missing... nothing to stare at in the garage, and say, "I cannot believe after all these years this bike is mine." Something about the mystique of making the bike yours. Choosing the mods, installing them, then sitting back and enjoying them even if the weather is frightful and all you can do is sit on the bike in a cold garage. I did abut 150 miles today and it was glorious. No where in particular, but stopped by a couple of dealers and just looked around. The experience was great and it was an incredibly relaxing time even though I was in chaps, heavy leather and electric gear. Why is there nothing like this? Why is it just so wonderful? What is it like? Horses in the 1800's? No, I don't think so. It is about time and time that cannot be replaced. I used to feel a little guilty about it, but now I find it is "Chicken Soup for MY Soul." There is nothing like heading the bike in any direction and riding. Well enough of the late night rant. Tomorrow I have to cut trees and clean up for winter, make sure the wood is in the shed and the stove is ready to go. I'd rather ride, but I will derive great pleasure just looking at the bike even though it is staionary.
