I realize it's a completely new frame/swingarm etc. but it looks like the rear mount is the same. Am I wrong? Is it possible the 09's feel so much better because everything is new and tight? I'm just trying to determine exactly what was done to fix it.

I understand your question and point, but do you honestly believe that HD is going to totally revamp these bikes and make major changes without fixing that problem?
Sure, maybe they never admitted the problem in the first place, what manufacturer ever does because that only invites legal action. But I can tell you I read just about every review of the 09 remake before deciding to buy my bike and I am highly confident that the engineers improved the bikes and corrected any wrongs.

I've seen them do a lot of things over the years just to save money. One good example is the change from forged cranks with Timken bearings to cast cranks with the single roller bearing. When people complain about vibration from the cheap crank they more than double the allowable runout. So yes, I honestly believe they would and until someone can explain what was done to fix it I will believe they did.
Thanks guys, I guess the consensus is that they have fixed it but I will remain cautious or at least be aware of the posssible problem. Man, I hope they fixed it.
What has been done to fix it? Doesn't the rear of the motor mount the same way on the newer bikes? I read a report from someone who owns both an 09 and an 03 with a stabilizer and he says the 03 tracks better through the curves.

Actually, I dont know first hand...but, I will in a week or two. I merely went by 99% of the claims on here, ride reviews, etc.... I must have missed the one that you are talking about.
From what I understand, the verdict IS in. The '09 doesn't wander and have tracking problems like the '08's and older. I traded my '07 UC for an '09 SG. I once took my UC back to the dealer because I thought it had a broken engine mount. I loved the machine and it was nothing that a bagger brace wouldn't have cured. I just wanted ABS and the other improvements. Don't listen to people that tell you there's no difference. There is.
