$150 for HID's. you won't need auxiliary lighting with these.

To add to the train of thought in the thread. I added the Euro reflectors and did not see a tremendous difference while I was still running PIAA halogen bulbs. I still have the Euro reflector in with the HID's. The light is F'ing fantastic. My buds have all ordered HID's also. Three of my four bikes and my truck all have HID's, they work that well.

Mike, What HID kit do I need for my 07 Road Glide. I have PIAA bulbs and I'm not impressed at all. They are not nearly bright enough for me.

Also, is there a thread on all this I can read?

Thanks for the help.

Steve

Here is a thread on the CVO forum.

http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=20543.0

Us Road Glide guys would use the two light car kit.

An exerpt from that thread.

changed out the stock headlight reflector in favor of the Euro reflector a couple of weeks ago. I installed a set of Sylvania Osram 80/120 bulbs at the same time. I was previously running PIAA 100/110 bulbs. The Euro reflector changed the pattern of the light for the better. The Osram bulbs with the larger split between hi and low is nice however the low beam is terrible in comparison to the PIAA's. The PIAA's have a great low beam but not much of a light difference from low to hi other than a pattern change. I ordered another set of new PIAA's which are 125/135. When I went to pick them up from the local auto parts store Dan the manager asked why I didn't go with HID's. I said cost, and as quick as I said that he pulled up a web site with HID's (www.xenonlink.com). We looked up my application and I ordered them. I purchased a hi/low beam setup for both lights for $170.00 shipped to my door. I went with the 6000K for the white look. The lights arrived at my door in about three days. The kit is pretty straight forward. It is all plug and play with the exception of a single hot and a few grounds. I joined all of the grounds together and routed them with the hot wire alongside the plug that plugs into the factory headlight harness. I used the two wires that are in my factory harness for the Euro bikes that use the little daytime ? running light. So I didn't have to cut or run any wires. I used double sided tape to attach the igniter's to the fairing. I installed them right above the headlight housing in the pocket, it was as if they were intended to go there. There is a third box which is what moves the shutter in and out on the bulbs to create the hi/low beam pattern. I wire tied that to the two igniter's.

A quick trip around the block had me wondering why I hadn't looked into this sooner. The speed limit signs glowed to the point where it looks like someone is shining a light at me. The distance that the lights shine is farther than I can see clearly and for that matter farther than I should be looking while riding. The low beams are fantastic as they illuminate a very wide pattern but not so far out that I'd be blinding other bikes following them. I believe some of this is due to the Euro reflector.

As for the light color. I went with the 6000K which is called pure white. It is so white that it appears to have a slight blue tint to it, sort of like ice. While this does not bother me I'd be curious what the 5000k or 5500k looks like.

For me this one of those mods I'll do immediately when I purchase a new bike. The beater bike is next as a candle is brighter than that headlight!

Smile HID Kit

This is great information. I looked at the Xenonlink site, but wasn't sure which kit I would need for my 08 Roadglide.

What Kit # did you buy?

Thanks. Great upgrade.

Here is a link to the exact one I used.

http://www.xenonlink.com/product_inf...products_id=89

H4/9003 6000K Bi-xenon HID-Xenon Auto Kit The H4/9003 Bi-Xenon bulbs in the bi-xenon kit stay fixed and there is a shield that covers and uncovers the capsule of the xenon bulb as you switch from low to high beam, thus changing the beam pattern. The high beam gives an upward projection and the low beam gives a forward projection. You will maintain the same beam pattern with dramatic increase in intensity and distance.

Available Color temperature:

Default roadglide lights

You need a bi-Xeion Hi/Lo bulb(s) which is an H-4 socket. I do not use a mechanical ballast (which these are) but s very small digital digital one. Another thing must be considered is the clearance between the lens and the front of inner fairing. If this bulb is too long than the backs of the bulbs will hit so you can not aim your lights and the fairing lens will not go back on correctly without spacers and gaskets. I give a $170 discount for HDF members. My kits cost me much more than the types on e-Bay. The one mentioned abov is a machanical type.

What ever you do and no matter who you buy them from, there is no substute for great lighting. The absolute best by 3 times is HID. Look for many many posts (example) from members on this subject.

Go here for what HID (HDF member heywood727 photobucket) looks like on your Road Glide. For your lighting needs

PS the quote by the manufacturer "Note: The Kit does not include igniters because they are integrated into the ballasts. Some lower quality kits come with separate igniters, but come with more complications as a result." is pure BS. The reason why these kits can be sold cheaper is because the cost way less to purchase. The ballasts pictured are 3 year old technology and are mechanical. That is why they are so large. I know what they cost as I have to make the choice to buy what type and brand.

I installed the fog lights on my 09 SG for two reasons, one is to keep the single light look rather than having it look like an ultra, and second, I needed more lateral lighting driving at night. They give me great light coverage that the single light does not. I felt it was a great investment for day and night driving. Check out a pic....
